Stephen Holdway
Internal Competitions Secretary
I joined the committee in 2024 in the role of Internal Competition Secretary, where I help administer and run the internal series of competitions.
I started my journey into photography many years ago when I was introduced to the Pentax ME Super, a film-based SLR camera. I paired this with a fixed 50mm lens and had great fun taking photos. I later joined a photography club at university where I learnt to process and develop black and white film, and took some memorable portraits of my friends.
Since then my photography stalled somewhat - I'd achieved a certain level but never pursued it. I moved over to digital in 2004 when the cameras had just about caught up with film and never looked back.
I began to take my photography more seriously, first posting on Instagram, then joining the Sidmouth Photo Club in 2023. I was amazed at the quality of the photos being entered into competitions and take much inspiration from them. Joining the club has sparked a rediscovered love of photography, and being such a welcoming place I have made many new friends here.
