I first started waving a camera around about ten years ago and the waving was quickly replaced by the need to fix the camera to a tripod as landscapes and seascapes quickly became my favourite photography genres and now feature prominently in my work.

Over the years, my career as an instructor in the aviation industry gifted me the chance to travel to many far-away places with strange sounding names, capturing some wonderful vistas along the way.

I am a Sony full frame mirrorless user, loving the image quality, flexibility and relatively lightweight compactness of this system.  I enjoy immensely the capture-to-print process; being able to research and visit a landscape location with my camera and then afterwards printing and mounting the final image at home with full control over the whole process is for me the natural flow of the image making journey.  I can hold the print and recognise that the result has all been my own work.

I joined SPC in 2024 as a focus for my work and to gain advice and inspiration from like- minded photographers, the club competitions providing a valuable gauge of my progress through the endless adventure that is photography.  If I have any photography knowledge that other club members may find useful, I am always happy to pass it on.  Onwards and upwards!
