Paul joined SPC in 2024, but his photographic journey began in earnest around a decade ago. From the outset, landscapes and seascapes quickly emerged as his favourite genres and these continue to feature prominently in his work today. In 2022, a selection of Paul’s striking monochrome seascapes were displayed on the Sidmouth School of Art billboard at The Ham car park.
In October 2025, Paul submitted a panel of images to the Royal Photographic Society in pursuit of the Licentiate (LRPS) distinction - and was delighted to be successful. This award recognises a photographer’s ability to demonstrate a high standard of technical camera work, artistic visual awareness, and effective visual communication through narrative and presentation.

Drawing on an established portfolio compiled through extensive UK and foreign travel, Paul carefully selected ten images that met the criteria while also showcasing a broad range of photographic disciplines. The RPS assessors praised the panel, commenting on its high level of creativity and inventive composition, with excellent positioning, viewpoints, and image design.
Unsurprisingly, Paul is thrilled to have achieved the Licentiate distinction and is already hard at work developing his seascape images for the next award level: the Associateship.
