Well we braved the squally weather for our 2025 Seafront Pop-Up yesterday! The morning shift of Steph, Brian and Graham were disappointed to be defeated by torrential rain showers, on an Esplanade that was (understandably) deserted, but things were looking up as our afternoon contingent - Karen, Carol and Jo - took the stand.

Fourth crew member Paul was given a free pass, but he checked in on us from home via the seafront webcam throughout the afternoon.

Miraculously we watched the dark, heavy rainclouds slide away inland, leaving a bright blue sky and, despite it blowing a gale, the town instantly came alive in the drier conditions.

With our posters (meant for the railings) tied to our fronts, we enjoyed the buzz of the busy seafront - offering to snap group photos on people’s phones so everyone could be in the picture and, most importantly, throughout the afternoon meeting some lovely fellow photographers who were keen to hear all about the exciting programme of meetings and activities on offer at SPC. We look forward to welcoming them to our Wednesday meetings for visitor ‘taster’ sessions, as we kick off the new 25/26 season on 3rd September.
