Special Interest Groups

The Club hosts five Special Interest Groups (SIGs), all of which are open to any member to join at no additional fees other than occasional specific costs associated with the operation of the SIG, such as room hire.

Landscape and Outdoor Special Interest Group - this group aims to encourage members in the art of outdoor photography, by organising regular field trips throughout the year and by sharing ideas and knowledge in a supportive and friendly environment. The group’s interest covers landscape, wildlife, nature and macro photography.

Distinctions Special Interest Group - helps members to obtain Licentiate (LRPS) and Associate (ARPS) distinctions from the Royal Photographic Society (RPS). As a supplement to the formal RPS advisory system, club members with knowledge and experience of the distinctions process run workshops and provide guidance to other wishing to gain these awards for themselves.

Critique Special Interest Group - comprises a collection of small sub groups that meet at members’ homes to show their work in a friendly, non-competitive environment and receive feedback from others in the group. It’s also a great way to get to know other club members and spend time discussing one of our favourite subjects. Members show either prints or digital work on any subject.

Creative Imaging Special Interest Group - this is a forum for members to share their creative, experimental and just-for-fun images, whether originating in-camera or as a result of post-processing using software. Either face to face or online, group members demonstrate their favourite photographic techniques and effects.

Printing Special Interest Group - this group provides an informal advice and information sharing service for members who enjoy printing their own images.
